TBI Presents another Exciting Class

The Bar/Bat Mitzvah Training You Wish You'd Had!

Beginning January 31, 2012, Rabbi Joseph Berman led a class to help adult community members take the next step in their Jewish lives and learning. 

Students learned to:

• Chant verses of Torah

• Take on a ritual and ethical mitzvah (good deed/commandment)

• Focus on a personal area of study

• Consider a variety of perspectives on key topics in Jewish theology.

The class will culminate in a Bar/Bat Mitzvah service for those who have not yet had one, and a celebration of learning for those who already have. Previous knowledge of Hebrew not required.

Classes were held approximately twice a month at the Temple.  The cost was $150 for Temple B’nai Israel members; $250 for non-members.

Tuition: 

TBI members, their partners or spouses       $ 150

Non-members                                                 $ 250

• There will also be fees involved for the Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony and kiddush itself, shared by members of the class. 

 • The B’nai Mitzvah ceremony will take place on a Shabbat morning in late May or early June, exact date to be decided at our first session.
